Malta Carnival 2018 Official Programme

Malta’s Carnival is one of the oldest historical festivals held on the island, with just under five centuries of credited and documented history which can be traced back to the early 1400’s. It was the Knights of the Order of St John that endowed the national festivities with spectacle and pageantry. New artistic creations are born while traditions are kept alive and revived, particularly with the revival of satire, a fundamental facet to the historical Maltese Carnival.
